Some Tips for Being Healthy on a Van/Road Trip
SOME OF OUR personal tips for being healthy on a van/road trip
Van Life road trips comes with its own set of challenges. Also trying to continue our normally healthy lifestyle, can easily go array and certainly has gone on the back burner before during these trips. We always ended up feeling like garbage when returning because we weren't taking care of our bodies, so we decided to make it a priority to continue or healthy routines..for the most part when we are on the road!
Eating Healthy on the Road
Having a plan is key to eating healthy on a road trip! First thing especially on a van trip where we go to secluded places there are hardly any options for food, let alone healthy food. We make it a priority to pack fresh veggies, fruits, protein, and easy to make healthy snacks! This can also mean meal prepping before your trip for an even easier, more accessible option to keep you on track! That doesn't mean we never eat out on our van trips because that would be a LIE. We enjoy trying new restaurants, and it is actually a highlight of our vacations. We just make an effort to always include a protein, carb, fat, and lots of veggies! We also NEVER skip dessert, haha it is all about balance.
Here is a list of our favorite road snacks.
-Apple slices with PB
-Hummus and fresh veggies
-Greek Yogurt with Granola
-Shakeology superfood shakes
-Plantain chips
-Banana with PB
-Beef Jerky
-Beach bars
-GRAPES (we seriously eat these like candy while driving for some reason haha)

H20
Make sure you are drinking PLENTY of water. Water helps with fatigue, digestion, and preventing headaches. We usually either purchase a few cases of water from Costco, or fill up huge gallon jugs to place in the cooler to refill our reusable water bottles. (pictured above) We know, we know plastic water bottles are horrible for the environment but sometimes with the seclusion we are limited so we have learned to prepare!

Exercise
Usually when we are on van trips we are outside walking, hiking, and exploring good o’l mother nature. Sometimes though we choose to have a relaxing day especially if we are near a beach/lake. On these days we then incorporate a quick no equipment workout from the programs Ashley helps coach people with every day. The app allows you to choose from thousands of workouts and download one so you don’t need to worry about not having cell service!
If you are interested in joining our accountability group and receiving access to these home workouts the picture above will lead you right to success! Or reach out with any questions! WE love helping people with their health journey.
Sun Protection
One of the most forgot about health tip people forget about, especially while traveling is sun protection. Your skin is the largest organ on your body and can be exposed to so much sun while driving, even on overcast days. Skin cancer does not discriminate and is way more common than people realize. Rather than finding out how common the hard way make sure to lather up with SPF 30 or higher, put on those cute sunglasses, and protect your scalp with a hat! The link connected to the picture above will lead you to Ashley's favorite adjustable sun hat!
Do you have a healthy road trip routine, snack, or recipe? If so we would love to hear it!
