Best Places to Visit on a Trip Around Fort Lauderdale

Relax and Rejuvenate at the Beach

It doesn't matter which one you choose you can't go wrong!

Here is a small list of surrounding beaches with top ratings.

1. Fort Lauderdale Beach

2. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea

3. Hollywood Beach

4. Dania Beach

5. Pompano Beach

6. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

7. Hillsboro Beach

Tip: If you want to rent jet ski's like we did shown in the video at the bottom of this blog click the picture above. It was across the street from the beach inside Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. The driver must obtain a temporary Florida boater's license beforehand.

Bonnet House

Bonnet House is one of those places you can't quite believe is actually in Fort Lauderdale. It completely transforms you back to the early twentieth century. You can spend hours exploring the grounds house and gardens. Be sure to sit and take a moment to appreciate the last natural barrier island habitat you can see.

Tip: Don't forget your camera there are so many excellent photo opportunities here.

Go to Hollywood

Enjoy dinner at the restaurant 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar and Grill. You will be completely submerged into that laid back Florida vibe. This all outdoor restaurant sits on the water where you can watch yachts drive by while listening to live music. The tables are under small Tiki Huts and the floor is sand.

After you are done eating head across the street to walk the boardwalk. On one side the boardwalk is filled with restaurants and shops, the other is the ocean.

Tip: Save room for dessert. There are so many ice cream places you'll want to try.

Everglades National Park

If you have some time take the hour drive down to the Everglades National Park. You will be able to get very close to a heap of Gator's and spot an abundance of wildlife in their natural habitats. While walking the trail there is no shade so please make sure to wear your SPF and plan accordingly. Luckily to view the wildlife you don't have to walk very far into the trail.

Tip: There are boat tours located throughout the drive down. We highly recommend stopping to take one to gain a different point of view of the Everglades.

Where to Stay?

Hands down this was one of our favorite VRBO experiences we have had. If you click the picture you can also book this same charming two bedroom two bathroom home. The host Joline is spectacular. She had everything you could possibly need..from pots/pans, to beach chairs/umbrella...you name it I promise she has it! Our favorite thing to do was just to sit outside and enjoy the tropical foliage in the backyard oasis.
