You may have seen us talk about Traverse City in our Michigan Summer Bucket List blog post. It is just one of those places that really shouldn't be missed no matter the time of year! Traverse City is made up of two peninsulas that were formed due to glaciers. For those that are unfamiliar with the Northern Michigan climate it actually provides perfect temperature for wine making. With this being said Traverse City is a great place for those who want to experience Midwest winetasting. Traverse City is not only filled with wine but also has many local craft beers and breweries for you to try. Traverse City is also home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes. This is one of those one of a kind places that photographs will never be able to do it justice!  If you happen to be here June or beginning of July the city is known for hosting their National Cherry Festival filled with entertainment for the entire family! 

Rapid City itself is a small town located in South Dakota. What makes this place special is how close it is in proximity to so many top tourists sites. These include Mount Rushmore, The Badlands, Chapel in the Hills, and the Black Hills. Chapel in the Hills is a beautiful replica of the famous Borgund Stave Church which is located in Norway. When you are visiting Mount Rushmore make sure you also take some time to appreciate the Crazy Horse Memorial. So much history, art, and quirky activities are located both in and around Rapid City. 

Chicago is the largest city in the Midwest so we couldn't dare not mention it. This is one of those cities that you could come here 100 times and because of how much culture and activities you will never have the same experience. One of the things we highly recommend doing is taking a tour of some kind. This a great way to see the city and all it has to offer. There are tours on the river, bus, history tours, food tours, etc. you think it they have it! The Shedd Aquarium is also hands down one of the best aquariums we have been to! Chicago is known for their deep dish pizza so it's definitely a must! Our favorite is Giordano's. It is defiantly hard to choose since there are so many! Have you been to one that is better?!
